Why we use it, and our lawful basis

| Carrying out the work and arranging a visit | Performance of our contract with you |
| Invoicing, and keeping accounting and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Dealing with a complaint, a warranty issue or an insurance claim | Our legitimate interest in resolving and defending claims |
| Analytics, and measuring whether our advertising works | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We do not send marketing emails or texts, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of suppliers to run the business. They act on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.
| Supplier | What they do |
|---|---|
| Postmark | Sends the emails that confirm your enquiry and reach us |
| Stripe | Takes card payments. They are the controller of your card details, not us |
| Cloudflare | Serves and protects this website |
| Our hosting provider | Runs the website and our email |
| Website analytics and advertising measurement, if you accept analytics cookies | |
| Meta | If you contact us through a form on a Facebook or Instagram advert |
Some of these suppliers are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad it is protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
We will also share information where the law requires it, for example with HMRC, or with our insurer if a claim is made.
How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| An enquiry that did not lead to work | 12 months, then deleted |
| Records of work, invoices and payments | 6 years after the end of the tax year, as HMRC requires |
| Photographs you send us | Deleted with the job record they belong to, and sooner on request |
| Website analytics | 14 months |
